The Agrifood Chain Management Group of the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin attended the Synergy Days conference organised by SmartAgriHubs in Barcelona on 14-15 October, 2024.
During the event we co-organised a Watson workshop on technology, transparency and trust: Addressing Food Fraud Vulnerability in European Agri-Food Supply Chains, together with colleagues from the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, University College Dublin UCD and the Foundation for Industrial and Technical Research SINTEF.
Dr. Claudia Coral presented research findings from the Watson project on the role of trust in assessing vulnerability to food fraud, with examples from meat and honey supply chains.
In a World Café moderated by Dr. Olivier Ejderyan (FiBL), participants discussed key factors for the implementation of traceability and authentication technologies in the agri-food supply chain, as well as the roles and responsibilities of supply chain actors in the fight against food fraud.
The Synergy Days were an incredible experience for connecting communities, bringing together more than 40 EU projects and EU Digital Innovation Hubs with more than 400 participants from the agri-food sector. Plenary sessions and workshops brought together SMEs, research institutes, EU policy makers, public administrations and European food and farming associations to share knowledge, identify challenges and outline the next steps towards a clean and sustainable food industry.
