Job description:
PostDoc, Scientist for 3 years – E13 TV-L HU
Begin immediately or until February 2012.
Responsibilities: Scientific work in the field of complex trait analysis in animal genetics; generation and analysis of data in a project on epigenetic effects on body composition in a mouse model for obesity. Data includes genomic, gene expression and phenotypic information, including next generation sequencing data.  Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to solving biological problems. Applicants must demonstrate a desire to develop skills in new areas of science and in building strong collaborations.
Requirements: The successful candidate should have a strong background in statistical analysis methods and familiarity with bioinformatics tools and resources. Knowledge of molecular biology, genomics and genetics is a plus. Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent degree) in a field such as computer science, biostatistics, bioinformatics, applied mathematics or in the animal breeding or biological sciences but with a strong quantitative background or a MS degree and significant relevant experience. Experience with scientific programming languages (e.g. R) is necessary. The successful candidate will be detailed oriented, highly organized, have excellent written and verbal communications skills and be able to orally present complex materials to scientific audiences.
