Molecular genetical analyses in horses

The work should contribute to more specific information about the equine genome, the structure and function of imortant genes as well as mutations influencing performance traits.

A main focus of this complex is the investigation of molecular background of coat colour in horses. The increasing usage of horses for hobby and leisure time, the coat colour will achieve a stronger interest as a selection criterion. In advance, there is a strong interest to investigate possible relations between coat colour and performance.

The second field of research deals with the search of candidate genes for specific performance of horses, e.g. racing performance of thoroughbred horses.
