Virtual EAERE conference was a tremendous success

25th Annual Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) in 2020

Virtual EAERE conference from 23rd June to 3rd July

The 25th Annual Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) was co-hosted by the Resource Economics Group. Originally planned to take place in Berlin, the conference was moved completely online as a reaction to the Covid-19 crisis. 150 sessions on diverse topics in environmental economics and beyond were held in the time from 23rd June to 3rd July. Highlights were an address by the German Federal Environmental Minister Svenja Schulze and a high-level and thought-provoking plenary session on the European Green Deal. With more than 4000 overall session visits, the virtual conference was a tremendous success.

Presentations from our working group:

  • Session: Policy instruments and climate change
Angelika Vogt, Achim Hagen, Roman Mendelevitch, Klaus Eisenack: Supply- and demand-side climate policies when fuel emission intensities differ
  • Session: Adaptation and International Cooperation
Hans-Peter Weikard, Achim Hagen: Adaptation first: Does it hinder or help to form climate agreements
  • Award Session: EAERE Award for Best Doctoral Dissertations in Environmental and Resource Economics
Jasper Meya, Paul Neetzow: Renewable energy policies in federal government systems

Next year's EAERE conference is planned to be physically held in Berlin from 23rd June to 26th June. We look forward to your paper submissions. More information on this year's  and next year's conference are provided online.
