  • Foundation of Cooperatives over Time: Germany and Europe Based on a dataset of new founded cooperatives since 1990 the current founding-wave of new cooperatives will be analysed. This dynamic will be compared with the development of other cooperative sectors in Europe: what is different, what are similarities?

  • Social Cooperatives in Germany: Part of the Solidarity Economy? The Concepts of Social Coops, Social Enterprises and Solidarity Economy will be compared: when is a Social Coop part of a so called "Solidarity Economy", and if so, what implications does that have? This question can be analyzed based on a statute-analysis of new founded cooperatives in Germany and expert interviews.

Students interested in writing their thesis within the division of Economics of Agricultural Cooperatives please send a brief proposal of their graduation project to hanischm@hu-berlin.de.

Students can present their work in the colloquium at the division in order to receive valuable comments and suggestions.
Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in the Master-Colloquium of the division of Resource Economics [link].
