Successful workshop on contract farming
On Friday, October 20, 2023, the Contract Farming Initiative (see link here) successfully held a workshop at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin to develop the proposal for a handbook on contract farming and development. Participants included Caroline Hambloch from HU’s Agrifood Chain Management Group, Niels Fold (University of Copenhagen), Sudha Narayanan (International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), South Asia Office), Helena Pérez Niño (International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague), Mark Vicol (Wageningen University). The handbook aims to bring together scholars from different disciplines and methodological approaches working on contract farming in the global South, covering a wide range of issues, such as climate change, land, and power dynamics.
