Research focus

Prof. Bokelmann is a professor of economics of horticultural production, focusing on all aspects of Food Value Chains, especially governance, sustainability and innovations.

Research capacity

Prof. Bokelmann is currently coordinating:

• The EU-ALFA III Program SERIDAR “Rural Society, Economy and Natural Resources – Integrating Competence in Rural Development”
• The collaborative research project HORTINLEA: DIVERSIFYING FOOD SYSTEMS. Horticultural Innovations and Learning for Improved Nutrition and Livelihood in East Africa (BMBF-funding program GLOBE)
• The EU/Edulink Project VALUESEC (Value Chain Development for Food Security in the Context of Climate Change)

Projects finished in the past include:

• The EU-Asia-Link project DoCuMap (2007-2010)
• The EU/Edulink project ValueLead: ”Value Chains for poverty reduction in the agri-food sector - Problem-based learning in higher education” with universities in Kenya and Ethiopia.
