First What Works Climate Solutions Summit at TU Berlin
From 9-12 June, two researchers from the Resource Economics Group took part in the What Works – Climate Solutions Summit at TU Berlin. The conference was the first of its kind focusing on synthesizing evidence for effective and just climate solutions. The conference fostered a dialogue between research, policy and practice. By understanding which climate policies work and under which conditions is particularly important for scientific policy advice and for the building of new work programs on upcoming climate change assessments such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) 7th Assessment Report.

On the second day, Klaus Eisenack and Lydia Finzel presented some of the current research of the Resource Economics Group at the Urban Typologies session. The audience – a mix of researchers, policy advisors, evidence synthesis communities, research funders, policymakers and other evidence-centered stakeholders – enhanced the discussion about how cities can be classified, matched and ultimately divided into different typologies. With the upcoming Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, the conference laid another important step towards it.
