Co-operation and Co-operative Organizations
Since 2007, the module “Co-operation and Co-operative Organizations” is offered as lecture to Master students from various disciplines.
Content of the Lecture
The lecture gives an introduction into basic concepts of Cooperative Sciences. Different theoretical approaches (Collective Action, Organizational and Development Economics, Public Choice, New Institutional Economics, Social Dilemmas Research, Game Theory) are introduced and explained problem-oriented. The discussion on the development of self-help organizations like cooperatives provide the empirical background for the understanding of scientific concepts and ideas. Hereby the basics of cooperative and coporate law, the discussion on poverty alleviation instruments, management techniques in democratically controlled organizations and selected projects from the area of development cooperation serve as examples.
Method: Lecture and Seminar, Literature Review, Kolloquium, Symposium
Grading: Paper (20 pages), Presentation (15 min)
From the 22nd of May 2018 the lecture hall changes to "Hörsaal 2" (H 2/ 2. floor) in Albrecht-Thaer-Building at Invalidenstraße 42 from 13:00 - 17:00.
The course will start the 17th of April 2018 and will take place at "Hörsaal 3" (HS3/ 1.03) in building 12 of the institute at Hannoversche Straße 27 from 13:00 - 17:00.

Behavioral Agricultural and Environmental Economics
The bologna.lab of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin supports the Q-Team “Behavioral Agricultural and Environmental Economics” at the Division of Resource Economics. The weekly 4-hour seminar is directed towards Master students from the Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture, but is open for qualified participants from other Master programs. It offers a research-oriented introduction to experimental methods in the field of agricultural and environmental economics. In small groups of 3–5 participants, students develop their own research projects which may be extended into a master thesis or study project. The seminar is offered in the winter term 2013/2014 and is limited to 12 participants. It consists of lectures, seminars, group discussions, and project work.
