------------------
The Master’s programme “EGAF – Economics and Governance of Agriculture and Food” will replace the current “Agricultural Economics” degree and will start in the winter semester 2026/27. New enrolments are possible exclusively in the EGAF programme, not anymore in “Agricultural Economics”. The new name better reflects the agricultural policy and food system aspects covered by the programme already today. Further key innovations include:
- A dedicated internship module, allowing students to complete an internship either in an external organisation (e.g., private sector, public institutions, civil society, research organisations) or as a research internship within the University.
- A transdisciplinary research module, jointly offered across all MSc programmes at the Thaer‑Institute, designed to foster an integrated understanding of the agricultural–horticultural–food system within the context of the global sustainability transition.
More information can be found in the overview of the EGAF-module structure and the draft of the new study regulations below.
For more information, see the Overview of EGAF-modules and the new study regulations.
Students currently enrolled in the Agricultural Economics (Ag-Econ) Master´s programme have the possibility to transition smoothly into the EGAF programme or complete the Ag-Econ degree by fulfilling the remaining requirements through the corresponding EGAF-modules.
Please refer to the preliminary equivalency tables for both pathways below.
