Our PhD students at AURÖ Workshop in Leipzig
Our PhD students presented their research at this year’s AURÖ Workshop in Leipzig
From March 4–6, 2026, our PhD students Konrad Bierl and Anna Piddubna, together with Marc-Philipp Bohnet and Lukas Rischen from the Junior Research Group PECan, presented their research at the annual AURÖ Workshop for Early-Career Researchers in Environmental and Resource Economics, hosted this year by Leipzig University. The workshop brought together PhD students and postdoctoral scholars from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, who presented ongoing research, engaged in professional discussions, and networked. The program consisted of sessions on international environmental policy, values, equity, behaviour, urban and regional environmental economics, climate change mitigation, and energy.

Our researchers contributed to several sessions across key thematic areas. In the energy sessions, Konrad presented his paper “From Votes to Megawatts: Policy Outcomes of Local Elections,” while Anna presented “To Heat, or Not to Heat? Exploring the Short-Term Effect of the Monetised Gas HUS Assistance on Gas Expenditure in Ukraine.” In the session on international environmental policy, Marc-Philipp presented “EU CBAM Effects on EU Producers: Evidence from Stock Markets,” and Lukas presented “Climate Risk Spillovers and Sovereign Financing Conditions.”
