The aim of the Asia-Link RECREATE project titled
"Restructuring higher education in resource and environmental economics
in East-Asian transition economies" is (1) to adapt higher education in
resource and environmental economics to the requirements of the
emerging market economy in China and Vietnam, and (2) to enhance the
international orientation of education and research in this field and
raise it to international standards. The target groups are young and
promising staff members at two leading higher education institutes in
this field in South China and Vietnam. Main activities comprise
intensive training courses in China and Vietnam, curriculum development
and revision, staff training abroad, PhD supervision, short-term
research projects, and strengthening international contacts. To adapt
higher education in resource and environmental economics to the
requirements of the emerging market economy in China and Vietnam that
meets international standards. The project has the following two
