Does money solve land use conflicts? On governance problems of agri-environmental support programs

In this project, a case study was carried out in the biosphere reserve Spreewald in the south-east of the federal state of Brandenburg to explore the importance of design, implementation and interaction of different agri-environmental support programs for solving land use conflicts. The results of this research provided insights on how support measures and the institutional design of decision making and implementation processes in this field can be improved. The research work included, among other things, a situational analyses as well as a formal and site specific analyses of support instruments and derived concrete recommendations.
