This congress was organized by the Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) and the Center for Latin American Studies (CELA) at the University of Kassel. It brought together more than 50 international experts to discuss strategies, envision futures, and connect Latin American experiences with global perspectives. The discussions focused on how crises and processes of change are triggered, (de)accelerated, perceived, and reflected upon by different social actors, as well as the strategies that have emerged at various levels to address them.
Dr. Cárcamo participated in Panel 3: Environmental Crisis and Development Model. Economy, Production, and Labor in the Face of Climate Change Challenges. His presentation, "Transition to Sustainability: The Challenges of Central America in the Face of Climate Change," contributed to the debate on how to advance food sustainability in Central America. It highlighted the challenges the region faces due to climate change and the importance of adopting more resilient and sustainable development models.
