Hans Dieter Temp, Sao Paulo, Brazil, founder of NGO Cidade sem Fome, spoke about Urban agriculture and social inclusion: Why and how the NGO CITIES WITHOUT HUNGER creates income generating community gardens. The lecture will continue on June 16th.

Die NGO STÄDTE OHNE HUNGER baut in der Stadt São Paulo und der ländlichen Umgebung nachhaltige Agrarprojekte auf Basis der ökologischen Landwirtschaft auf. Ziel ist es, Menschen in prekären Lebenssituationen in die Lage zu versetzen, durch die Projektteilnahme ein eigenes Einkommen zu erwirtschaften und die Ernährungssituation von Erwachsenen und Kindern zu verbessern. Hans Dieter Temp, der Gründer der Organisation, berichtet von seiner Motivation und der Arbeit in den Projektgärten.

Ms Jasmin Sepahzad delivered a presentation on "Urban community gardening as a potential tool for change? Experiences from São Paulo, Brazil".
During the research for her bachelor thesis ("The Impact of Urban Community Gardening on Pro-Environmental Behaviour") Jasmin Sepahzad gathered, as one of the first exchange-students from Albrecht-Thaer-Institute in São Paulo, quantitative and qualitative data in the growing Urban Gardening scene of the Brazilian metropole.
