Dialogue Event mit GIZ und Uni Hohenheim

Dear colleagues,

We invite you to a dialogue event on:

“Agricultural Trade and the Development of the local Food Economy in Sub-Saharan Africa”

May 4th, 2018 from 9.00 – 15.15 hours in Berlin.

The African food economy plays a significant role for economic development and has been strongly growing over the past decades. Net food imports, though, have been increasing as well due to factors such as weak food system governance, urbanization, population growth and changing consumption patterns.

The goal of this event is to foster the discussion on the impact of agricultural trade governance on the local food economy. It addresses the most salient topics in agricultural trade with key stakeholders. The discussion will be based on two contested and prominent case studies: milk in Burkina Faso and poultry in Cameroon.

This event is organized by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in collaboration with University of Hohenheim and GIZ Sector Project „Agricultural Trade and Value Chains“. It addresses participants from academia, civil society, development cooperation, the private sector and policy makers.

We are happy to welcome you on May 4th and are looking forward to a lively discussion. You find the full program here.

Location: Auditorium im Grimm-Zentrum, Geschwister-Scholl-Str. 3, 10117 Berlin
