New publication of Robert Cárcamo Mallen and Claudia Coral: Dependence on Fertilizer Imports and Revealed Comparative Advantage 2016-2023: Perspectives for Mexico and Ecuador

This paper analyzes the comparative advantages of fertilizers for Mexico and Ecuador, and subsequently proposes key public policy recommendations to reduce the dependence of both countries on imports. After analyzing the revealed comparative advantage, import intensity, and public policy responses, it was found that neither Mexico nor Ecuador has a comparative advantage in the production of nitrogen-based or potassium-based fertilizers.
