Target Groups
- All status groups at the Thaer Institute are eligible for support
- Female students in Bachelor's and Master's programs can receive support and guidance for pursuing an academic career
- Female PhD students can be supported in completing their dissertations
- Female staff members in technical, service, and administrative roles can receive funding to participate in training and professional development courses
Which expenses are eligible for funding?
Travel
- Funding is available for participation in conferences and congresses where applicants present posters, give talks, or showcase their academic work
- Costs that may be reimbursed include: airfare/train fare, accommodation, conference fees
- Not reimbursed are meal costs
- Maximum funding:
- €500 for national travel
- €1,000 for international travel
Work Materials
- Applicants can receive up to €300 for literature that is difficult to access
- Consumables or small devices (up to €300) necessary for the completion of a project or enabling more flexible work practices can also be funded
- The publication of research results in peer-reviewed journals is also financially supported up to a limit of 300 euros.
Final Thesis Scholarships
- In cases of justifiable social hardship, earmarked final funding for doctoral theses as well as bachelor’s and master’s theses can be granted through a monthly scholarship amount of up to 600 euros per doctoral candidate or up to 350 euros per bachelor’s/master’s student, as long as the applicant’s involvement in the institute’s research and/or teaching can be proven
- Applicants must demonstrate involvement in the research and/or teaching activities of the institute
- The total funding through a final thesis scholarship is limited per applicant and calendar year up to €1,050 for students and up to €1,800 for doctoral candidates. Funding is generally granted only once per thesis/qualification phase. Exceptions (e.g. serious illness, pregnancy) must be justified
Decision Guidelines
- Incomplete applications will be rejected without exception
- Depending on the available budget, only partial funding may be granted; rejection is also possible
- Applications are more likely to be approved if:
- The submitted documents are structured, clear, and meaningful.
- The applicant plans special activities in teaching (e.g., involving students in teaching and research).
- It is possible to apply for funding more than once per calendar year, but only one grant per applicant and funding period will be approved
- Annual funding limits are as follows:
- €1,550 for students (e.g. international travel + final thesis scholarship in one year)
- €2,300 for doctoral candidates (e.g. international travel + final thesis scholarship in one year)
- €800 for female staff from technical, service, and administrative departments, academic staff, professors (e.g. international travel + work materials)
Application Guidelines
- Applications must be submitted via email or by post to the Women’s Representative
- Requirement for financial support is the completeness of the application documents. This includes:
- the form “Application for Financial Support for Women”
- cost estimates and a planned use of funds
- the applicant’s social situation
- integration in teaching and research
- Documents must be structured, structured, meaningful, and truthful.
They must be compiled into a single PDF file. - Funding must always be applied for before any costs are incurred.
Application Processing
- Applications are reviewed by the Commission for the Advancement of Women for content and completeness
- The application process (approval, partial funding, rejection) is carried out regularly by the Women’s Advancement Commission
- Processing time may take up to one and a half months; funding should therefore be requested in a timely manner.
