Green roofs contribute both to emission reductions and to reducing climate impacts. Green roofs, though, are not all equal, don’t all face the same challenges, and don’t all need the same policy instruments. The paper shows that cities with mainly small green roofs systematically rely on regulations and incentives, whereas cities with mainly large green roofs focus instead on communication and network building.
