Thema:

Nachhaltige landwirtschaftliche Entwicklung in Semi-Ariden Gebieten - Eine Fallstudie zum Watershed Management Projekt in Süd-Indien
Zusammenfassung
Armut- und Ernährungssicherungsprobleme sind eng mit den Problemen der Steigerung der Ernteerträge und Einkommen der bäuerlichen Wirtschaften in den semi-ariden Regionen verbunden. Watershed Management bietet Perspektiven für die nachhaltige Entwicklung der Landwirtschaft. Die Ergebnisse der Analysen im Projektgebiet zeigen, dass bei wichtigen Produktivitäts- und Einkommensfaktoren, wie Landnutzungsintensität, Anbaustruktur, Ernteerträge, Nutzung der menschlichen Arbeitskraft, Beschaffung von Anlagevermögen usw. positive Veränderungen zu verzeichnen sind. Jedoch Probleme wie das sektorale Herangehen bei der Implementierung der einzelnen Maßnahmen, Nichtvorhandensein von unterschiedlichen Paketlösungen, die der komplexen Natur der traditionellen Anbausysteme dieser Region Rechnung tragen können und Vernachlässigung von Allmenden beeinträchtigen die Gesamtergebnisse des Watershed Managements. Weitere Forschungen über die Incentives und Hemmnisse in bäuerlichen Wirtschaften sind erforderlich, um kostengünstige und profitablere Technologieoptionen bereitzustellen, die den Zielsetzungen der Bauern in dieser Region, wie Einkommensdiversifizierung/Stabilisierung und Ernährungssicherheit, Rechnung tragen können.
